Position: Director of Youth Ministry

Position summary:

The qualified candidate possesses a strong commitment to teaching the Catholic faith within the mission of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He/she will create an environment that encourages and provides opportunities for youth and their families to grow in their Catholic faith. The first year of employment will be under direct supervision of the Director of Youth Ministry and in collaboration with the Assistant Youth Minister. After the first year of mentorship, the coordinator position will transition into the Directorship role.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruitment, training, and support of Core Teams for both High School and Middle School Youth Ministry programs.
  2. Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and/or development, planning, and implementation of High School Youth Ministry, Middle School Youth Ministry, Confirmation preparation, First Communion preparation, and OCIT (Order of Christian Initiation for Teens).
  3. Coordinator is responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of annual retreats for both the Middle School Youth Ministry and High School Youth Ministry. Additionally, Coordinator is expected to promote and facilitate involvement of youth and core in Diocesan events, i.e. JrHi Rally and ICYC.
  4. Maintain parish records related to youth ministry and sacramental preparation.
  5. Maintain Youth Ministry budget.
  6. Develop relationships with youth and their families.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be willing to teach in a Catholic environment and respect the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.

2. Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Education or other relevant field, or five-years of experience coordinating youth ministry programs.

3. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Position: Director of Music Ministry

Position summary: Saint Paul’s Parish – an active, multi-cultural parish of 2,000 families in Nampa, Idaho is seeking a full-time Director of Music Ministry. This position is uniquely crafted to give an ambitious musician space for creativity and growth. The Director of Music Ministry directs our choir and ensemble leaders in all aspects of the provision of music at our six weekend masses, personally leads the choir or ensemble at two of these weekend masses, and oversees liturgical music for funerals, weddings, and other special liturgies.  The parish’s tech coordinator, and audio/visual technical systems are also under the supervision of the Director of Music Ministry.   Our parish is bi-lingual.  Masses are celebrated in English and in Spanish.  We are accustomed to myriad musical styles, including sacred chant, traditional hymnody, contemporary choral works, folk music, both English and Spanish, and contemporary praise and worship.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: The Director of Music Ministry has the following duties and responsibilities:

• This position requires someone who is a missionary disciple and shares in the missionary work of the parish. The DMM is responsible for aligning the music ministries’ goals with the parish goals and strategic plan.

• St. Paul’s Parish has a sacred responsibility to its parishioners to support them as they seek to worship in spirit and truth. The DMM fully supports the parish’s commitment to providing an exceptional Sunday experience through implementing best practices for music.

• DMM assures that quality music is provided for parish liturgies. This is accomplished by selecting music and by recruiting and scheduling musicians for Saturday evening Masses (5 and 7 pm), Sunday Masses (8:00 am, 10:00 am, and noon and 6 pm) and other major parish liturgical celebrations

• Collaborates with the pastor to ensure appropriate music for all parish sacramental celebrations, retreats, and special events.

• Creates and develops worship aids for the assembly and provides opportunities for the assembly to participate through sung prayer.

•  Aids and schedules musicians and maintain a resource list for organists, soloists, and other musicians available to perform at these functions.

• Oversee part time choir directors.

• Assures the supervision of all music personnel. This is accomplished by training, motivating, supporting, scheduling, evaluating, and recommending termination when appropriate.

  • Recruits, trains, and supports these parish ministers of music, including the cantor/leaders of song, and choral groups. Facilitates opportunities for parish ministers to develop and enhance their personal faith growth. Is responsible for scheduling practices and assuring accompanists and music are available.
  • Inform the Parish Safe Environment Coordinator when new volunteers come into the ministry to determine if Safe Environment training is needed.
  • Assures the proper evaluation of all volunteers under this position’s care. This is accomplished by reviewing and assessing volunteer performance and the suitability of the placements.
  • Responsible for acquiring copyright permissions for music used in liturgy.
  • Assures that the piano and organ receive tune-ups and any needed maintenance.
  • Collaborates with the Tech Coordinator to ensure the proper working order of all technical equipment used in the church and Marist Hall (sound and audio, AV networks, livestream equipment, projector, and video equipment), and organizes and manages the schedule of livestreams, both regular liturgies and special liturgies.
  • Attends all liturgical planning meetings.
  • Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for the ministry. This is accomplished by reading, establishing regular practice times, and attendance at workshops and conventions.

Job Title: Director of Religious Education

Position Summary: The qualified candidate possesses a strong commitment to teaching the Catholic faith within the mission of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He/she will create an environment that encourages and provides opportunities for children and their families to grow in their Catholic faith.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: The Director of Religious Education has the following duties and responsibilities:

• Oversees the religious education of children pre-k- 5 th grade in the parish community. Develops, plans, coordinates, oversees, and implements faith formation programs for children in this age demographic.

• Works with the support of parish staff to develop new educational programs where appropriate.

• Supervises the recruitment and work of volunteer catechists, involved in education ministry, and provides for continuing formation for catechists.

• Evaluates and provides guidance to catechists in religious education programs.

• Develops effective methods of encouraging enthusiasm, interest, participation, and learning suitable to the age of the students involved.

• Develops resources and is familiar with tools useful in education ministry including audio visual and computer-based resources.

• Develops and evaluates curriculum content, supplemental materials, resources and available materials to meet the needs of the religious education program, consistent with the Diocesan guidelines.

• Make sure that every teacher and volunteer in the religious education program is “Safe Environment” trained in accordance with Diocesan guidelines.

• Works with parish school and personnel in an advisory capacity, where appropriate, to assist in the delivery of Catholic school religious education.

• Serves as lead-teacher and works with catechists for sacramental preparation and other educational programs of the parish, including preparation for First Communion and First Reconciliation, Summer Bible School and coordinates parent meetings and educational opportunities for such sacramental preparation.

• Ensure communication regarding programs and methods for informing parents about religious education programs.

• Maintains student registrations and permanent records for religious education programs. • Keeps the parish faith community informed of the religious education or faith formation ministry.

• Keep, maintain, and update weekly the Religious Education section of the parish Website and Parish Bulletin.

• Attends outside retreats, workshops, and diocesan programs to obtain information and resources to further the goals of the religious education program where appropriate.

• Performs religious education duties as assigned by Pastor.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

 

SACRAMENTAL FORMATION FOR FIRST CONFESSION AND FIRST COMMUNION

• Coordinate the First Confession and First Communion Preparation Program and curriculum.

• Teach and train others to teach Confession and First Communion classes.

• Coordinate the Children’s Retreat for the Sacraments.

• Design Liturgy aids and programs as needed.

• Coordinate with the music groups and Emcee for the First Communion Masses and reception.

• Print out the First Communion Certificates

• Serve as lead-teacher and works with catechist for sacramental preparation for those in OCIA.

• Serve as lead-teacher and works with catechist for sacramental preparation and other educational programs of the parish, including for First Communion, First Reconciliation and Summer Bible School.

• Coordinate parent meetings and educational opportunities for such sacramental preparation.
