During this Lenten season, we begin a new Message Series: 40 Days. Here we begin to explore the beautiful mystery of the Eucharist in the life of our Church. Just as Jesus went away for 40 days, we too will take these 40 days to explore the breathtaking reality of the Eucharist in our lives.
Week One: Body, Blood, Soul, & Divinity
From the very beginning, the Church has embraced the truth of the Real Presence. And at each Mass, we enter into salvation history, Christ becoming physically present, sacrificing Himself for our redemption, all because of love.
Week Two: In Union
Welcome to Week 2 of our Series, 40 Days. Communion is no ordinary act. When we are in communion with Christ’s sacrifice and redemption, to the Church and to our community, we are transfigured. We become and are sustained as the Body of Christ. To worship at Mass, then, is the fulfillment of our identity. When we enter into the celebration of the Mass, it is an act of love.
Week Three: Worship and Thanksgiving
In week 3 of our message series, God reveals Himself to humanity throughout salvation history. He continues to reveal Himself to us today, in Jesus’s body and blood, freely given. The natural response to this beautiful revelation is thanksgiving and worship. When we begin to grasp at the gravity and wonder of the Real Presence and the unity created therein, we celebrate, we believe, we give thanks.
Week Four: A Love that Transforms
In Week 4 of our series: 40 Days, we recognized we are called to reciprocate the love that Christ gives us, a love that offered His body to be broken and His blood to be poured out. When we turn toward God with repentance and conversion, we can more authentically love Him, ourselves, and those around us. And that body and blood given in the Eucharist, then, empowers and strengthens us more and more to live that law of love.
Week Five: Food for the Journey
This week in our series, 40 days, we acknowledge how the Eucharist nourishes and strengthens us. It is our spiritual food, it feeds and sustains us as we live out our call to serve in this world and prepare for the next.
Week Six: Sent Forth
In the final message of our series: 40 Days, we reflect on Pope Benedict XVI’s words, the “love that we celebrate in the sacrament is not something we can keep to ourselves. By its very nature, it demands to be shared with all.” Share it. Share the love you have received so that others can recognize Christ in our world.
